Christmas is important because it’s an opportunity to remember.
Remembering is necessary because forgetting is one of man’s biggest failings. In the book of Deuteronomy, there are many of what I call reminders to remember. These reminders prove to me beyond a shadow of doubt how well God knows the people He created.
Anything that aids REMEMBERING is a blessing and must be cherished! Christmas is a blessing!
One of our enemy’s biggest strategies is to make us forget [and/or keep us distracted]. Why? It’s because people who have forgotten have no reason to be grateful. Christmas is the gift of the incomparable Jesus. When we forget how big a deal Christmas is, we forget to be thankful for this amazing gift.
As God’s people, we need to be more conscious of the very calculated attack on everything that has to do with Jesus and the blatant attempts to make the Christmas season about anything and everything but Christ.
This consciousness should awaken in us greater zeal to do our job of making Christ known.
Think about the wonder of Christmas. Many of us have lost sight of the wonder of Jesus’ coming to this earth.
May God open our eyes to see the wonder that is the FULFILLMENT of the PROMISE OF God who WANTS to be with us. When we regain the wonder of Christmas, our most obvious response will be WORSHIP!
Worship begins with a relationship with Him.
There were many rooms where Mary and Joseph found themselves in Bethlehem, but none of them were available to Jesus [Luke 2:7 NIV]. Present yet unavailable. You must make room for Jesus. Deliberately. Consciously. I implore you to invite Jesus into your heart today!
He wants to be with you: He came to be with you but He won’t force His way into your life; if you make room and invite Him, He will come in. Revelation 3:20 NIV
He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him. Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God— John 1:11-12 NIV
Don’t be guilty of filling up all your rooms with guests so that there’s no room for the King. Be careful to MAKE and KEEP ROOM for the One who came just to be with you and to save you. He is worth displacing and kicking out some of your “guests”.
For some of us, we’ve invited Him in and yet He has been denied access to many parts of our lives. We’re available yet inaccessible. He wants full access to you, not to be relegated to only certain areas of your life. When Jesus is given full access, that’s when He truly gets involved.
Remember: He came to BE WITH YOU!!! More important than anything you can DO for God is to BE WITH HIM. In fact, for those who claim to have nothing to offer, give to Him the present of your presence; it’s the gift He most desires.
Vainly we offer each ample oblation, Vainly with gifts would His favour secure. Richer by far is the heart's adoration, Dearer to God are the prayers of the poor. - MHB 122
Give Him your attention. After all, He’s the celebrant. This Christmas, arrange special you-and-Him time. This season could be the start of a thriving relationship with Him.
Dear Lord, thank You for the gift of Christ and the joy of Christmas. Thank you for fulfilling Your promise to us of salvation through the sacrifice of Your Son. Forgive me for all the times I have taken Christ out of Christmas. It's all about you, Jesus! This season, help me to see the wonder of Christmas so that I will worship the Saviour King as I ought. Amen!
